I am a former daily newspaper reporter who started freelancing in October 2005. I write about religion, travel and business for local and national audiences with an emphasis on feature writing. My stories have appeared in a variety of publications, including Religion News Service, Beliefnet, Publishers Weekly, Modern Bride, Sunset, VIA, Science & Spirit, Comstock’s, Faith & Form, Our Sunday Visitor, Sacramento Business Journal, Sactown and Sacramento magazine. I also write publicity materials for universities. I worked at daily newspapers in Northern and Southern California for five years covering religion, education and city hall. I have won several journalism awards and have been chosen for two religion-writing fellowships. I have a bachelor’s degree in history from Bryn Mawr College, a master’s degree in journalism from Stanford University and a certificate of theological studies from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. I live in Sacramento with my husband.
